Springtown 500

It's 70 plus degrees in January the week before the Superbowl.  Too bad the game wasn't in Dallas this year and not last year with our freak ice storm.

Here is Wesley and Cassie getting ready for racing around the yard for the first Springtown International 500 (Be there, be there, be there!!).  Cassie raced her brother in her own go-go.

Get Set!!

Kylee was the rule enforcer making sure everyone was safe and sound..no matter how many times Cassie tried to wreck Wes!

 Wesley in the lead...

 Now Cassie takes the lead...

Bye Bye brother!

 Hi Mom, one hand!

Wes did like to keep the vehicles a little close during the race...

Ms. Bethany saw Wes driving and joined in the festivities.  Our son is a pick up man already!  Overall great fun was had by all in the wonderful spring like weather!  Bethany, Wes and Cas won several races and we will keep you posted on future race days.

FYI- this is Larry's first blog post.

Cowboys and Oklahoma

For the past month and a half Wesley has been all about cowboys.  He dresses up as one with a hat, bandana and boots.  His preschool just finished a western and Texas themed month culminating with a chuck wagon lunch, pony rides, and roping a rocking horse.  Also this past weekend, Springtime High School's musical production was Oklahoma.  So we took Wesley to his first play.  Here is Wesley and Kylee dancing to Oklahoma's Kansas City.

Cassie's First Birthday Party

Large Puff balls hung from the ceiling made from tissue paper.  http://pinterest.com/pin/53621051782856733/
Crape Paper Rose Topiary...warning this is a lot of work!  http://pinterest.com/pin/225391156320579618/
Cake Balls made into Minnie Mouse heads with bows.  Again, lots of work, but so worth the time. The ears are mini Oreos; thank you Wesley for disposing of the center cream.   Inspired from this book: http://www.amazon.com/Cake-Pops-Tricks-Recipes-Irresistible/dp/0811876373/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1327628977&sr=8-2

Sun dried Tomato Dip.  Thank you Pampered Chef for this heavenly recipe.

Cassie was not a happy girl before her party.  She missed her afternoon nap.

I know 15 years from now if Cassie found out I make these and didn't make her one she would be disappointed.  http://www.etsy.com/transaction/59948736
Yummm,  Homemade Carmel Corn
Mouse Ear Party Favors, love them.  I made a few changes, but essentially followed these directions. http://pinterest.com/pin/225391156320579294/
Kudos to mom for making the cute little bows on top.
Birthday Girl!
Yes,  her skirt matches the high chair cover.  No link for this one, these skirts are just too simple to make.

It is hard to see, but we used a pancake cookie cutter the shape of a Mickey for Cassie's cake.
But we only gave her an ear.

20 minutes later.

The guests, Kaleb, Kylee, Peyton, Hayley, and Michael.

and Wesley too.

Present opening.  That is a Cabbage Patch Purple Bunny...so cute!

Happy Birthday Cassie!

Merry Christmas and Tamales

Christmas morning present opening.   Not too many pictures since half of us were sick with the flu.

We made around 144 beef and pork tamales thanks to Lupe and her daughter Sarah's help.  Good thing we have a large freezer!
